I grew up playing Animal Crossing on GameCube, so when this game came out in 2020, I made it my mission to buy a Nintendo Switch (which were higher in demand and harder to find than toilet paper and hand sanitizer at the time) just so I could play. This game was so nice to have in a year like 2020 — escape the dumpster fire that was, well, life and focus on building beautiful waterfalls and visiting my friends on their islands to gather supplies? Yes, please. Now I don't have as much time to play this game as I did last year, but I still adore it, and now that winter is upon us, I'm sure I'll be spending more time playing it again. I can't recommend this game enough.

Get it from Amazon for $59.99.

4. A Disney+ subscription so they can access a world of nostalgia-inducing shows and movies they grew up with and discover new and exciting Disney+ exclusives.

Heather Braga / BuzzFeed, The Walt Disney Company

Promising review: "I’m not sure how I would’ve made it through this year without Disney+. As a die-hard fan of both the parks, the films, and the music I felt a big entertainment void filled whenever I tuned in. I’m a creature of habit and have been more than happy to watch classics like Beauty and the Beast and Hercules over and over, but it’s been such a delight to watch new Disney+ originals as well. I highly recommend The Imagineering Story, which is all about the creation of the various Disney parks. Howard is also a wonderful option if you want to learn about the mastermind and musical partner partner of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman. Don’t even get me started on Baby Yoda. Disney+ has, for lack of a better term, helped fill my year with some much needed magic." —Heather Braga, BuzzFeed editor

Subscribe to Disney+ for $7.99/month or $79.99/year.

7. A subscription to Obé fitness to help turn their living space into their very own workout studio. They'll have access to a broad array of prerecorded workout classes, a packed live class schedule, exciting challenges, and a supportive community.

Abby Kass / BuzzFeed

Promising review: "I've been using Obé for almost a year and a half now, but I really upped my game once quarantine started. I usually did an average of four classes a week for 30 minutes, but since I was stuck inside all the time, I started regularly doing an hour. Not only did it help pass the time, but I always felt SO much better after I was done. I started by doing a lot of dance and sculpt classes — which I love, but in June, I decided to push myself by participating in their Move With a Purpose challenge. During that time, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and started realizing I actually enjoyed Dance HIIT, strength, and power classes. (I've worked my way up to using 10-pound weights now, which I never thought would be a thing!) The app pushes me to be stronger and more confident and really has been such a good thing for me in the past couple months. The instructors are great and really make you feel like you're in workout classes (which I've found is the only way I can motivate myself to workout). I feel so strong because of the app, and I did it all without ever leaving my apartment." —Abby Kass, BuzzFeed editor

@spotify / Via www.instagram.com

Spotify is probably the app I use the most (both on my phone and my computer). I have a Premium subscription under the family plan with my mom, dad, and brother, and cannot recommend this option enough if you have several roommates or family members that you live under the same roof with. I've always found Spotify an incredibly user-friendly platform. It's easy to navigate to your favorite songs and artists, find similar song/artist recommendations based on your listening habits, and my personal favorite thing is making new playlists to match different moods, seasons, or whatever my favorite songs are on a given day. Thanks to Spotify, I've discovered new music I may have never known about had I not been given personalized recommendations/playlists and I've been invited to Spotify-hosted events like getting to meet Dnce back in 2016 simply because I was an avid listener. If you or someone you know is looking to make the switch to Spotify or upgrade to Premium, this is your sign to do it already.

Subscribe to Spotify for $4.99/month for the student plan (includes one free month), $9.99/month for the individual plan (includes three free months), $12.99/month for the duo plan (includes one free month), and $15.99/month for the family plan (includes one free month).

22 Last-Minute Virtual Gifts You Can Give *Instantly* (16)

Amazon

I grew up playing The Sims and never imagined that at 27 years old I'd still love it so much, but I find it to be so therapeutic when I'm stressed out. I don't play with the actual Sims characters like I used to — I spend all of my time on that game now channeling my inner architect/interior designer and trying to build cool homes. Pretty sure I should have my own HGTV show, but that's a conversation for another day. Anyways, this game is truly so fun and there's also tons of expansion packs, game packs, and stuff packs you can add on to enhance the gaming experience.

Get it from Amazon for $4.99.

Sugarwish was kind enough to let me pick out my own coffee-and-tea box recently! The process was simple — I received an email with a link to follow and my code was automatically applied. I was able to choose between a wide selection of coffee, tea, and biscottis and picked my four selections. My box shipped on the same day and I received my gift a few days later. I haven't tried the coffee yet but I'm enjoying the tea and biscotti's so far and think this is such a fun gift idea and truly can't recommend it enough!

13. A Book of the Month subscription to help take the guesswork out of picking their next read. Each month, they'll choose from a selection of great books they want delivered. If nothing strikes their interest, they can save their credit and apply it toward a future month instead.

22 Last-Minute Virtual Gifts You Can Give *Instantly* (21)

@bookofthemonth / Via www.instagram.com

I joined Book of the Month a few months ago because I wanted to read People We Meet on Vacation and my local library had a wait list. I thought I'd sign up for one month and cancel my subscription right after, but I am here to say that was not the case. I'm hooked on my BOTM subscription and can't recommend it enough.

At the start of each month, they add five new books to the app. These books span all sorts of genres, include reads from new authors and returning favorites, and some even have a theme (aka: spooky reads for October). You can choose up to three books per month. All three of your selections can be from that month's book picks or you can pick a book or two from that month's selections and choose add-on books — I've been doing this lately as I'm working on creating my own little ~home library bookshelf~. If you don't like any of their monthly selections that is A-OK! Simply skip that month and a credit will be applied toward future months.

It's such a fun thing to treat myself to each month and makes for a perfect gift (both to yourself and to loved ones). Happy reading!

Sign up for Book of the Month starting at $9.99/first book and $14.99/each month after!

Promising review: "Say it with me: Horror on Netflix sucks! After much hemming and hawing about 'Do I need another streaming service?!' I ditched Disney+ and finally got Shudder. Now I'm hooked! I'm a huge horror fan and seek it out year-round. So, TBH, I'm shocked I waited this long! It has lots of exclusive movies (like Color Out of Space with Nic Cage, a Shudder original) and TV shows (like Channel Zero, which you've likely heard about), along with stuff you need in your life. I own a Peloton bike and love it for the convenience of being able to get in a great workout without having to leave my house — all of the instructors are so energetic and motivating and there's always such a great mix of music played during classes, but I've also done some of the nonbike workouts and enjoyed those as well. I especially love the strength classes and I did a Disney yoga class a little while back that was so enjoyable.
