Rams Documentary "Locked In" showcases how special Matthew Stafford is (2024)

The Rams media team put together an incredible documentary that takes place right around the bleakest part of the team’s season and follows them all the way through the playoffs.

All the hard work pays off tonight!

Rams Studios also makes history by having the first in-house club produced documentary to air on NFL Network! Thank you to @NFLFilms for handling post-production!

Excited for you all to see what this BTS cooked.

Matthew Stafford was the main focal point of the brand new documentary that aired on NFL Network on April 18th in their prime time slot. Stafford in this documentary was showcased on and off the field. The media team gave the viewers an inside look into the life of Stafford as a father and husband as well as an NFL football player.

The biggest takeaway I gathered from watching this was just how much more of a personality Matthew Stafford is than assumed by the mainstream. Stafford isn’t a loud personality, he’s not an extremely vocal leader but when he needs to he can kick it up a notch. That’s the thing that the cameras on game days do not always catch. Stafford in the locker room during the show after a win was very vocal and let his team know they needed to put teams away before sharing some expletives that were cut out of the TV broadcast of course.

Matthew Stafford talks about balancing being a dad and playing football.

"Being a dad and also being a quarterback, you're responsible for a lot of things and a lot of people."

Takes his daughters to school every Tuesday on the team's off day.

The big deal with this show is that it really showcases that Stafford is indeed a special quarterback that fans are going to miss dearly when he finally decides to hang up the horns. He simply exhibits everything you could want in a franchise quarterback. It’s not just the natural and physical tools but it’s the intangibles, the things you cannot measure that he has. Stafford is simply built to play quarterback at the highest level and on the biggest stage. He has already proven that once to us after all back when he won the Super Bowl.

Stafford: "My thumb's killing me".

Showed so much grit during the Rams-Lions playoff game. Ribs hurting him. The thumb.

...bro threw for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Just unreal.

The documentary is great promotion for who Stafford really is but it’s also a big reminder as we enter the draft season just how carried away we can get about these quarterback prospects and just assume they can take up any mantle. The reality of the situation is when you are watching Stafford holding his ribs and barely able to grip the ball because of his thumb getting jammed, and then he’s still the best quarterback on the field? That’s just not a common thing. He outplayed Jared Goff in that playoff game, anyone who would tell you otherwise is either delusional fan of his the Lions or they don’t know football.

This documentary showing EXACTLY what Matthew Stafford is as a quarterback.

He goes through so much and endures so much pain. Does everything he can to lead his team to a win. Just keeps on getting back up. You love that about him. Nobody else you'd want as the Rams QB.

Stafford leaves it all out on the field. That’s a very copied and pasted sentence: laying it all out on the field, it’s a commonly used term but Stafford isn’t just a buzz word he’s everything you could want when it comes to a franchise quarterback. When it comes to having poise in the pocket. When it comes to having moxie or just having an inner arrogance or confidence that no matter what is thrown at you, you are going to prevail. Matthew Stafford is what every scout is praying they end up with after the NFL Draft should they choose a quarterback.

Stafford said he had tears in his eyes while talking to McVay on the sideline against Dallas (due to the thumb injury) and thought his season was done. 3-5 after that loss, and 3-6 heading into the bye.

Their only loss the rest of the way was to the Ravens, in overtime. pic.twitter.com/jqVf8qECtX

Is Stafford the greatest of all time? No. But is there really anyone else you would want leading this team right now? Stafford is one of the good guys, I’m glad the NFL Network was able to air that to the world and I hope this year we start to see more appreciation for the type of talent we are witnessing right now.

Special shout out to my guy @Yuey_J4 and the #Rams media team. This was masterfully done. A beautiful way to preserve the crazy run the Rams had late season while also showcasing Matthew Stafford to the world. Excellent job capturing the moment and the unprecedented access.

Once again, the Rams media team deserves all the praise for putting this together. It’s a lot easier said than done to make a documentary with the attention to detail this one had. They preserved a fantastic late season stretch for the Rams while also putting Matthew Stafford in the spotlight. If you haven’t already, definitely check out Locked In on therams.com. It’s worth the watch.
