A gorgeous holiday co*cktail
I mean, how pretty is this raspberry sloe gin fizz?! It's got the red and green colors going on so it would be a perfect Christmas party or co*cktail or if you don't celebrate Christmas it still has general holiday/ winter vibes.
A perfect co*cktail for a girl's night or girl's weekend
So I have to admit, the main reason this is one of my favorite co*cktails is because it reminds me of the first time I ever had a gin fizz which was at the adorable Penn Wells hotel bar. My sister and I met up in the cutest little town of Wellsboro exactly four years ago today (thank you Timehop!).
We managed to escape responsibilities for a whole weekend and it was awesome! We shopped, saw a movie at the theater, played rummy over coffee at the local diner, and chatted about life in the hotel hot tub
The best part though? If you can believe anything is better than all those things... we actually ICE SKATED ON A REAL LAKE. Surrounded by mile-high evergreen greens, while it gently snowed. Not even kidding. It was magical. And there was hot chocolate. Best sister weekend ever. Swipe to see a couple photos of our ice skating experience. 🙂
A Must-try co*cktail
This raspberry gin fizz tastes as good as it looks. Whether you're hosting a party, meeting up for your own girls' weekend, or just relaxing after a busy week, you're going to love this and the vacation vibes you'll feel with each sip.
Do I need to use sloe gin?
Yes, yo do need to use sloe gin if you want the correct flavor and bright red color that this recipe intends.
There are a few differences between gin and sloe gin. First, gin is a grain alcohol with juniper berries added for flavor whereas sloe gin is distilled using a sloe berry. Gin also has a higher alcohol content than Sloe Gin and is clear while sloe gin has a red color. (source)
Special tools you'll need to make this co*cktail
If you don't already have one, you may want to invest in a co*cktail shaker set that includes a muddler. You'll need one to muddle the raspberries properly. Here's a really cute Copper Shaker set with Muddler.
Make it a mocktail.
To make this co*cktail virgin, simply replace the Sloe gin with grenadine.
Perfect for the holidays!
The colors of this co*cktail make it perfectly festive and fitting for the holidays. Looking for other holiday co*cktails? Check out my white Christmas co*cktail and my grandpa's green stinger drink.
